Many of us are still wearing winter coats and hats to stay warm, yet spring is popping up around us. We're seeing fashions and swimwear beginning to emerge teasing us that warmer temperatures will be emerging soon. Another hot indicator we're starting to notice--giving us all hope that we're thawing out--is spring hair trends. The "3 B's" dominate this season's styles:
blunt, bangs, bobs.
Several celebrities have set the stage by adding blunt bangs accompanying their long styles including Tyra Banks, Carmen Electra, Katie Holmes, and America's Next Top Model winner Saleisha and finalist Chantal. Bangs offer a few benefits including that they work for all hair lengths and they help a woman look younger by covering up any visible forehead wrinkles. Eye emphasis is another benefit realized by adding bangs.
Another style making a come back this season is the straight and modern style "bob". The bob is a classic style that works on many hair lengths and ages. This style works best for those women who naturally have or can create with a flat iron straight and sleek hair.
Just as the grass brightens in the spring and sunlight makes flowers bloom, hair also sports varying hues. Most popular are styles featuring tones more blonde in color using lowlights in between sections to create contrast and more golden in tones for blonde highlights.
For women wanting a little more bounce, don't fear as the big barreled curling iron waves made popular by Carrie Underwood, Oprah Winfrey and Nicole Kidman still remain in demand.
To ensure your hair is ready for the seasonal change, I've outlined a few recommendations to help combat winter dryness and take you into spring moisture.
Change your hair products Switch to a moisturizing shampoo during winter months. Profound, Goldwell and Redken all have great moisturizing hair products. You need this added moisturizer for your hair due to the added dryness in the air...both inside and out.
Use a frizz eliminator product A frizz eliminator is great year-round to control all over hair or specific problem areas. In the winter, this product helps reduce static too resulting from heat. For fine hair, only use on the ends as if you use too much or all over, you can result w/an oily look. For thicker or curly hair, use 2-3 drops all over to smooth out and control the frizz. A couple of great frizz eliminator products include SUDZZ Zenyth Frizz Eliminator and CHI's Silk Infusion.
Leave conditioner in longer When washing your hair, leave your conditioner in for 2-3 minutes for maximum winter benefits and to trap in the much needed moisture during these harsh months.
Special conditioning treatment at salon or at home A NEW conditioning treatment clients are screaming for uses a moisturizer by Kenra. You apply the conditioner to wet hair, then you wrap the hair in foil. Follow by heating the hair with a flat iron. Each section is heated for about 45 seconds at a heat of about 350 degrees. This pushes the moisture into the hair shaft. Then, let it cool for about 10-15 minutes so moisture can set in. Customers can even learn to do this at home.
