I am going to make this a very easy one for you. A little bubbly and romance for Valentines Day will melt anyones heart. But here are two points:
-Point one: Champagne and Sparkling wine are the same thing. Just from different places. Champagne is from the region of Champagne France. Sparkling wine is made everywhere else. Somehow we associate a more romantic feeling with our bubbly coming from France. Seems a bit more special, and sophisticated. But sparkling wines from around the world are just as wonderful. And in most cases a lot more affordable! These wines go beautifully with most food. They're not just a toasting beverage. Think of it more as an all around food friendly wine. Fish, chicken, pasta with a cream sauce, sushi, risotto with mushrooms, and anything fried. All these foods are perfectly complimented by a Champagne or Sparkling wine.
-Point two: To guide you in a good direction as to what to buy, here's an easy solution to satisfy your cravings (or curiosity).
From France, there is a vineyard called G.H. Mumm. Dating back to the mid 1800’s, this House if Champagne Mumm has beautiful examples of what French Champagne is.
-Mumm Cordon Rouge about 43.00
-Mumm Brut Rose about 53.00
-Mumm Joyesse about 43.00
All of these will delight you and your Valentine for a romantic French inspired evening. But this Vineyard also has a sister vineyard in Napa Valley California. So here you are getting a wonderful wine from a well known French producer. All of their knowledge and wine making style, put into an American wine, at a great price. Some of their wines that you will want to try:
-Mumm Napa NV Brut Napa Valley Prestige about 18.00
-Mumm Napa NV Blanc de Noirs Napa Valley about 18.00
Cheers to you and your Valentine!
