A gift for a party host, boss, neighbor? Or that hard-to-buy-for wine lover? Finding the right bottle to give can be an insecure moment in the wine shop. So many questions run through your head. Red or white?  Is it expensive enough? Is it good? We have all been there.

Here are some suggestions that will help solve this problem through the gift giving season.

For a fun, friendly gift to a neighbor or co-worker try a fresh light white wine. The ever popular Pinot Grigio would be perfect. But also consider a dessert wine. A nice surprise that someone would not buy for themselves.

-Pinot Grigio Try one of these: Santa Elena Pinot Grigio, about $15.00, or the Bortoluzzi about $16.00
-Dessert wine Essencia Orange Muscat, about $12.00 ( I had this recently along with a homemade flan. Yummy!)

Want to impress the boss? You can never go wrong with a nice bottle of Champagne. And this year there is a brand new release that makes this bottle a very unique gift.

-Champagne Mumm Grand Cru. A special multi-vintage of grand cru cuvee. Price about $60.00 This sparkler may only be available in a few cities at first. If you can’t find it, go with the always delightful bottle of Taittinger for around $38.00.

Now for your wine lover. That snobby person who rambles about wine, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, they bug me too. Here is a sure-fire gift that may even make them speechless for a moment! A Big French Bordeaux that can either be enjoyed now, or will age beautifully in their cellar. The prices may scare you into next year though! Try this one for a great bottle at a responsible price.

-Bordeaux--Chateau Leoville Barton St. Julien, price about $48.00.

They have been a long time best kept secret of Martinique and now make a great holiday treat for all of us.
