Long before Paige Hemmis joined the design team on the ABC series "Extreme Makeover Home Edition, she was surprised by the lack of tools and products designed for women. As a self-taught woman working in construction, she desperately needed work gear that fit her properly. After wearing two pairs of socks in men's boots and getting plenty of blisters, she had the idea to create her own line of work wear for women. Research on women in construction showed that there were over one million registered contractors who were women - not including weekend warriors and women who DIY. In addition to wearing functional gear, Paige wanted to maintain her femininity while getting her hands dirty on-site.
When she joined the ABC team she decided to wear pink so that everyone would know women could be tuff and feminine. Paige designed and created the first pink tool belt that she wore on the show, which launched a trend in the industry and now there are many imitation pink toolbelts available, however only "TuffChix brand pink tool belts are the originals designed and worn by Paige Hemmis. She has created a market for strong and handy, yet feminine, women everywhere. TuffChix tool belts have pockets for everything needed. Combining heavy-duty strength and girlish flair, these tool belts get the job done - from gardening to remodeling! They also make great carryalls for a gal on the go!
