Ladies, are you frustrated with the fact that your man needs to lose weight?  We all know that nagging won't do the job, but subtle loving hints, and a helping hand can jumpstart his motivation Men have the same self-image problems as woman do and want to look  good and feel great.  By complimenting and telling your guy how sexy
he is, it will make him want to begin and keep going. Even though you can help him get started, in the end, it will have to be his decision whether to take the plunge or not.
There's no better time to reevaluate your lifestyle choices and to make the necessary changes that will improve your overall wellbeing. That is what Bobby Schanz is doing. Forget about waiting for New Years as most people tend to do. He
decided to take control of his life and start now! Bobby wants to not only lose weight because of health issues, but he wants to make himself over to improve his self-esteem and raise his confidence.

Before beginning any kind of diet or exercising, Bobby consulted his physician to make sure his body could handle the changes. Everyone should see their doctor before starting any type of weight loss regime.
Men are just as frustrated as women are about their weight. They fortunately lose weight more quickly than women do. Often times it takes a monumental event in
ones life to motivate people to change their eating habits. In some cases it can be the support of friends or family,
self realization of a problem or even the death of a loved one. In Bobby's situation, the sudden loss of two close friends, knee pain, and most importantly his upcoming 50th birthday has propelled him to change his life in a positive way.
Bobby is so motivated to lose weight that he allowed us
to photograph his actual weight and tipped the scale at 315.6 lbs.  He has sought out the help of Pete Cerqua, founder of ChronoDynaMetrics in New York City. Pete believes that strength training rather than cardio exercising and fad dieting has
produced the best results. Pete's specialty is strength training for just 15 minutes a day!  All the items you need can be found in your home and attic:  a stop watch, two chairs, 5 - 10 lb hand weights and a wall.
Bobby went to Pete in 2001 and due to some physical set back and the depression that set in after 9/11, he was unable to continue.  Pete recommended an eating regimen for Bobby to follow which included portion
sizing such as: open palm for protein, clenched fist for complex carbs, and cupped hands for salad.  He also believes that you should consume three meals and two or three snacks a day.  The number one rule is to never skip breakfast.  People who are overweight tend to skip breakfast, eat a light lunch, and then eat most of their daily calories too close to bedtime.  This pattern is best
for slowing the metabolism and accumulating fat.  The "Balanced Portions" program will reverse this and rev up the metabolism.  The end results will be a leaner, healthier body.  Remember to take a multi-vitamin for "nutritional insurance" and drink lots of water.
Food choices:  protein lean sources chicken or fish.

Complex carbohydrates:  brown rice, sweet potatoes or whole what pasta;

Fibrous carbohydrates: salad with some olive oil for healthy fats.
Now while Bobby is working on keeping his thoughts positive, eating healthy, working out regularly with Pete, he has also enlisted Lady Barber's help for a head-to-toe makeover.
Realizing that most people do not want to buy new clothes until they lose a substantial amount of weight, Lady Barber decided to tackle skin,
hair, and feet care. Bobby had never really cared about what products he used (if he used any at all!) on his face and hair, but will now give them a chance for this makeover. Using these products will start to help Bobby feel better and look great too (See Your Man II for a list of products)!

Finally, Bobby is excited and happy to tackle his weight issue and to take his future into his hands. He currently does not eat well, skips breakfast, and has a late lunch and dinner. These issues are will be addressed during his makeover.

Watch for Bobby in the winter issue of Your Life!  We will chart his weight loss progress and introduce him to a brand new look.
